Lighted Magnifying Mirror

Finding the perfect lighted magnifying mirror is important. In fact, there aren’t many things more important when it comes to your makeup routine. Many women choose to use a mirror that doesn’t have lighting and that’s okay, but for those of us with a little more discerning taste, lighting is absolutely essential; so I’m glad you’ve come to the right place today.

On this page I’m going to talk about several different brands as well as several different models within those brands to give you a clear idea what to expect as far as options and features, as well as different price ranges that you can expect to find so that you make sure not to overspend when you find the right mirror for you.

How important is magnification? before we get into lighting and brands and prices I want to spend just a quick moment on magnification because I find that many women don’t realize that they have different options in this area. Most mirrors will come standard with two magnifications, 1X and 5X. Personally I find this quite adequate, but many women feel like they need a little more magnification and that’s just fine. For them they can choose between 7X, 8X, and 10X. You can find higher magnification but it’s quite unusual to go higher than 10X. Many travel mirrors come as 10X. for some reason, but I find that 10X is way too much magnification for me! But enough about that! On to lighting

Lighting is the most important part of any mirror because it will determine how you do your makeup. A good mirror will come with four different lighting settings. There should be a setting for day time light and night time light, and there should also be a setting for work light (or office light as it is sometimes referred to) and home light. These different lighting settings attempt to mimic the different lighting you will be surrounded by during the day so that you can do your makeup to fit in with that type of lighting.

I said that many mirrors come with four lighting settings but that’s truer for your higher-end slightly more expensive models. Many of your basic models, the ones at the lower price ranges, will only come with two lighting settings; day light and night light. You can probably get by with just these two types of lighting settings but I wanted to make you aware of the fact that some mirrors come with more options because I find that some women are unaware of this fact.

I like to focus on two major brands when it comes to these types of mirrors; Conair and Jerdon. Conair mirrors offer a very wide variety of price ranges and options all at the lower end of the price scale. You can expect to pay anywhere from $20-$25 all the way up to $60 or sometimes $70 for most Conair mirrors. Don’t let the low price range fool you, these are very good mirrors and you will get good quality for the price you pay!

At the higher end of the price range are the Jerdon mirrors. These mirrors start usually around $50 (though there are a few sub $50 mirrors to choose from – go with Conair at the cheaper ranges though because they specialize more at that range). Prices continue up to around $200 depending on the exact options you want.

I find that whatever your budget is, whether you have just a few dollars to spend or a couple hundred dollars to spend you will be well served by both of these brands. I’ve never heard a single bad word about either of them at any price range. But every woman is different so you may have to purchase several mirrors before you find the exact one to suit your bathroom lighting and your makeup needs, and that’s okay. I suggest you try out a few and keep the receipts… and don’t be bashful about sending them back if they don’t work out quite right. This is an important decision and you have to be sure.

I’m not really sure what we used to do before they came out with a good lighted magnifying mirror! But one thing is for sure, I couldn’t get through my day without one and I’m sure you feel the same way. Finding the right magnification, coupled with the right lighting settings, and you’ve got yourself a ticket to beautyville! Well, you know what I mean…
